Where did Trulli get her name?
The working names of the litter were Easter-themed, because the puppies were born on Easter, saturday evening. The working name of this puppy became Trulli (Finnish Easter witch), it had a long tail that was like a witch's broom, since then the working name also remained as a nickname.
It used to be believed that because Jesus died on Good Friday and rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, God's protective influence was at its lowest on the Saturday between these days, and that's when witches were allowed to riot in the world. That's why in Finland witches were feared on Easter saturday and Easter bonfires were lit to ward off evil. If witch got into the barn, the cows died the following winter from strange diseases, and if witch managed to take hair or pieces of skin from the animal, the luck of the cattle could be lost. So the purpose of misdeed was to steal the cattle and at the same time the happiness of the house, when the cows ran out, the sheep perished or some other plague befell the house. Attempts were made to prevent the witches from entering the barn with the help of bells, bladed weapons, hymnals, mercury, pentagrams and signs of the cross.
