Where did Paju-Tiera get her name?
In the Kalevala, Iku-Tiera Nieranpoika is Lemminkäinen's friend, comrade in arms and a skilled spear user.
Although Tiera is a male person in the Kalevala, the name is also used by women in Finland. Tiera's name day was celebrated on January 22 from 1929 to 1949, but the name was removed from the almanac due to its rarity.
The working names of the litter were Easter-themed and this puppy's working name was Paju (Willow), which was also part of the nickname, so the puppy became Paju-Tiera.
